Do You Stack Up #29

Here is another entry in the Do You Stack Up up challenge.  The challenge was wings.  The sketch for this card came from a Yahoo group called Inky Fun Stampers that I belong to .  This is the June Challenge.  So I figured I would use my butterfly stamp for my second entry at DYSU.  I took a colored pencil class over the weekend and really want to practice the new things I learned.

Advanced Class from Karen Lockhart

Here are the cards from the advanced class.  The one on black was white stamped on black.. We added different degrees of white and sparkle which didn't really show up on the picture.  In the purple one we added a slight layer of gray to deepen the other colors and on the chair we added texture with a stylus and waxed paper.  When you color over that with colored pencils the pattern pops out.

Karen Lockhart Beginner Class

Today was a really good day.  I went to a local stamp store and took two classes on color pencil coloring with Karen Lockhart of Lockhart Stamps .  It was awsome.  Here are the things we colored and the cards I made.  Most of the paper was given to us in class to make the cards.  Several I made some minor changes to.

MMSC #113 and Do You Stack UP #29

The sketch for this card came from the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge.  I decided to also use the challenge at Do You Stack Up for this card.  The challenge there was wings.  All the paper used is from Paper Temptress.  The paper used is Bubblegum Pop for the main card, Laser Silver Lustre for the beautiful lined background, Rose Quartz Mica Metallic for the shimmery pink squares, Sparkle Noir for the nice black accent and the butterflies were stamped on Cryogen White. The lovely pink ribbon can also be found at Paper Temptress.  The butterflies were embossed and I used a techniuqe from Stamp TV to make them look tie dyed.  All you do is emboss the image and then randomly tap with markers.  The beautiful butterfly is from Lockhart Stamp Company.

This is going to be a good weekend because on Sunday Karen Lockhart is coming to a local stamp store to give classes on coloring with colored pencils.  I am really excited.

Totally Gorjuss #89

The challenge at Totally Gorjuss this week is all about boys.  This is a baby shower card I came up with for a girl at work.  Her daughter is having a little boy and this is the shower invitation.  She wanted a western theme and I was at a loss.  A friend suggested a denim pocket and on we went.  The baby's name is going to be Levi, so she wants a little tag on the jeans that says Levi.  Still have to think about that one a little bit.

Midnight Madness Challenge #112

Here is my card for the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge this week.  This fantastic stamp is from Penny Black.  I colored it with copic markers and added some glitter.  I highlighted the edge with distress ink.  I just bought a beautiful stamp from B Line Designs that looks like gingham ribbon.  Wish I could have shown a bit more of the gingham.  Oh well maybe on the next card.  I really do love this Penny Black stamp!

Midnight Madness Challenge #111

I made this card for my daughter's 3rd wedding anniversary.  The sketch came from Midnight Mandess Sketch Challenge.  The background technique is from Technique Junkies and is called Faux Marbling.  The colors from the wedding were brown and pool, so that is where I tried to go.

MMSC #110 and Penny Black Saturday #158

I needed a mostly black and white card for a swap, so here it is.  The sketch came from the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge.  The stamp used is from Penny Black.  All the paper is from Paper Temptress.  I stamped the image on Cryogen white. The embossed piece at the side is also Cryogen White.  The beautiful black background is Laser Black Glossy Lustre and the little bit of green is Corrugated Mint.
