Totally Gorjuss #164

The challenge at Totally Gorjuss was to use something that was new to your stash.  I had ordered some Christmas stamps from Gina K right before Christmas and did not have time to really try anything.  She demonstrated the technique I used on this card at Stamp TV.  She used clear embossing powder for her trees.  I decided I wanted to try Embossing Pearl in Silver from Ranger.  I wanted my trees to have a little sheen. I did not get Christmas cards out to everybody, so I thought this would be a cute New Year's card.

Make it Monday #120and Party Time Tuesday #100

Well I have another baby shower coming up this weekend. This was my post for Paper Temptress this week.    The base of this card is olive basis. I used Brown Basis for the second layer. The third layer is Natural Sky and was embossed with an argyle embossing folder. I used vintage photo distress ink on the embossed image. I also used a green glaze pen on some of the stitched lines. I cut a hole in the top layer with a Spellbinders die. I stamped my image on Neenah Super Smooth Ivory and cut it out with the next smaller size of Spellbinder die. The sentiment is also stamped on Neenah Super Smooth Ivory. I colored the image with colored pencils and used some gamsol to smooth out the coloring. I also did some highlighting with a clear glaze pen. Thought this would work for my card for Make it Monday. Also want to include this in the Challenge at Party Time Tuesday.  The challenge there was anything goes.

Make it Monday

Here is another Christmas card that I made.  I just love this image.  I am going to have to try some more complicated cards with this image.  This is just the first idea I came up with.  I think it would be totally fantastic totally colored also.  This is my card for Make it Monday

Totally Gorjuss #163, Quirky Crafts #26

Have been really busy lately and not doing much posting.  I do have a couple of Christmas cards I can post.  The challenge at Totally Gorjuss was easy does it.  For this card I cut the image with a spellbinder die and used that template to make the colored part.  I then stamped my words in the colored area.  I then stamped the nativity and mounted it and used it in the lower corner.  I also added a bit of distress ink around the outside to give it more of a vintage look.  I just don't like plain white edges. The challenge at Quirky Crafts was last minute Christmas.  This card was simple because I waited to the last minute to make it.

Make it Monday #118

This was my Paper Temptress post last week.  My daughter is due to have a baby in February. It is a boy. We are getting ready for the first baby shower. They tell me the theme is elephant and peanuts. This is the card I came up with. The base of this card is the Gray Leather . The wonderful texture in this cardstock was perfect for the base for an elephant card. The accent is Basis Gray. I stamped on this rich gray color with white ink and I used the Cover a Card Gingham stamp from Impression Obsession. The elephant image was stamped on Cryogen White. The ribbon I added is Satin Reversible Stitched Edge in black /silver. I colored the image with colored pencils. I just got a new die for making the pop up in the center. I just love the look. The hearts on the inside are the Basis Gray and Basis Pink. The inside message was stamped on Pewter .  Thought this would be perfect for my Make it Monday post this week.

Make it Monday #116

Well I am trying to get in the Christmas Spirit.  What did we ever do without Spellbinder dies and fancy punches.  (Which by the way I am totally addicted to).  Love this little snowman.  This is my card for Make it Monday this week.

Make it Monday #115

This is another one of my Paper Temptress posts. A while back I saw the most adorable You-tube video using a small battery powered tealight. I did change mine slightly because I used a Spellbinders die. I will say it would have been easier to use a punch like in the video. The base of the card is Blumarino Incadescent. I don’t think you can even imagine the great sheen this paper has. The white is Cryogen. The blue is Periwinkle Treasures. The small blue striped piece is Laser Silver Lustre. I used some distress ink on it to give it the blue color. The image was stamped on white iridescent vellum. The image is embossed. This vellum can work without warping. You just have to be sure and not over heat it.
The beautiful bow is white ribbon that you pull a string and it scrunches together. The scene and wording at the top are from a new Gina K stamp set called City of David. This is my entry for Make it Monday this week

Make it Monday #114

I need to make some baby shower invitations for my daughter, so here is what I came up with.  I used the technique junkie technique called In the Middle.  I just love the stamp set from Hero with all the little baby things and it worked perfectly for my card.  This is my entry this week for Make it Monday.

Party Time Tuesday #92

The challenge at Party Time Tuesday was anything goes.  This was my Paper Temptress post on Monday. So all the links are links to cardstock that Paper Temptress sells.  I found a new technique on Technique Junkies called distress stain dip. You put distress stain on a craft mat and spritz it with alcohol. You then dip the paper into it. The technique called for 3 colors. I only had two that seemed to go together. I decided to try the HQ Cotton Watercolor Paper. This paper is nice and thick and gives the front a sort of texture. I edged this piece with Encore Copper Ink. The brown layer is Basis Brown. The base card is Gold Basis. The tag at the bottom is Butternut Treasure. The die cut was cut from Neenah Solar White. The die cut image was colored with Copic Markers. I also added a little sparkle with Stickles.

Five challenge post

I have always wondered how people find multiple challenges that one card can fit into.  Well I have found 5 that worked for me this week.  First to be listed is the Make It Monday #113 Challenge.  The design or sketch for this card came from Sketch Saturday #231.  The colors for this card came from the picture inspiration at Just Us Girls #160.  The challenge a Casual Friday #76 was use craft colored cardstock. Finally the challenge at Do You Stack Up #95 was to use wet or dry embossing. I also scored 3 lines above my sentiment.   So the colors of orange, green and brown came from the color challenge.  I saw an awsome idea on Techno Stamper of embossing on craft colored cardstock and then picking up color from a marker with a waterpen and painting the image.  And last but not least that is where the white embossing on the craft paper came in.  I did stamp  a leaf on the orange background with bronze metallic ink.  I also used a little bit of distress ink to highlight the edge of this card.

Quirky Crafts Challenge #22

This is a project I made for a girl at work.  It is from Technique Junkies and is called Double Tea Bag Holder. This is just a perfect little gift for someone that likes tea.  The challenge at Quirky Crafts was anything but a card in fall colors.

Make it Monday #112

This is a card I made for a swap on Technique Junkies.  The technique is called Cut Circle Sentiments.  I do a lot of my cards in shades of green and tried to step a bit out of my box.  The rust and blue worked well together. This is my entry for Make it Monday this week.

Make it Monday #111

I just love techniques and I saw this one on Stamp TV. It is called Pillow Ticking. You score the cardstock at every 1/2 inch and then you take the score pal and make the dotted line in the middle of every score line. It has that old fashioned pillow look. So easy, but I liked the look. All the cardstock used in this card come from Paper Temptress.  The base of this card is Golden Green Basis. The next layer is the Olive Basis. The dark pink layer is Azalea Mica Metallic. All the white is the Cryogen White. The azalea and the olive are perfect for this technique because they are nice and thick and holes are not made in the cardstock. The image and the saying are from DRS Designs. I just thought this saying was so funny. Thought this could also be my entry for Make it Monday.

CFC72

The challenge at CAS-ual Friday this week was to make a card that reflects your blog header.  My blog header says Vickie's Addiction.  Well I love dies, embossing folders and punches, so that is what I used on my card. The flower was made with a Spellbinders die.  The embossing folder is from Stampin' Up. I used a punch to punch out the sentiment.

Make it Monday109 and Party Time Tuesday87

This is my post for the design team project at Paper Temptress.  I have seen some of the beautiful projects done with Laser Silver Luster. The background for this card is the Laser Silver Luster. I have a new play tool from Inkadinkado called a Stamping Gear and that is what I used to put down the side pattern. Love how this paper takes the color. The card base is Olive Basis. The main image is stamped on HQ Watercolor Cotton . I stamped the image with StazOn and then took a waterbrush and markers and added some color. The dark brown accent is Canyon Brown Skinny Columns. Then to top things off I added Antique Gold/Olive Sqares and Stitches ribbon. Would love to know what you think.  Thought this would be perfect for Make it Monday and Party Time Tuesday.  The challenge at Party Time Tuesday was anything goes.

Make it Monday #108

I needed to do a card using Distress Inks for my Yahoo swap so thought I would use that card for my Paper Temptress post. The main image here is stamped on the wonderful Cryogen White cardstock. The great thing about the cryogen cardstock is that it has that wonderful little bit of sheen to it. It also takes the color so beautifully. I colored my image with distress markers and then used distress ink around the edge for some vintage effect. In trying to use some of my stash of supplies I also applied Distress Crackle Paint to the main image. The pink layer that offsets the main image is Razzleberry Pop. I just love the deep rich color. The background and main card is from Light Green Basis. I applied Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabber--Snow Cap to my stamp. Did the stamping and dried it with a heat gun. I then took several of the distress inks and applied them with the applicator. You then mist a paper towel and rub over the cardstock to show the white images. Also added a small piece of lace for more of the vintage look. The small sentiment tag is also cut form the Light green Basis. This is my entry for Make it Monday this week

Make it Monday #107

This card is a swap for one of my Yahoo groups.  The sketch came from one of the members. Thought this would be a good card to enter in the Make it Monday post  I am really trying to use some of my supplies.  I don't really use DP very often because I really like to make my own paper to match what I am doing, or use embossing folders.  But I have so much paper so I decided to dig some out. My goal is to really try and use some of those supplies that I just had to have.  I know a couple of my Yahoo friends do look at my blog, but the person this went to doesn't .  Have a fantatastic week.

Monday Lunchtime Skletch Challenge #237

Here is a card I made for a guy at work who is having a birthday on Friday.  I used the sketch from Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge for the card.  The paper used for the card is from Paper Temptress..  The white cardstock is Cryogen White.  It has a little sparkle to it and colors great with copic markers.  The blue base is Treasures Pool.  The orange diagonal piece is Butternut Orange and the stars are punched out of Black Pearl Glossy.

Make it Monday #106

This a card I made for a Yahoo swap that I was doing.  The technique is called Embossed Puzzle from Technique Junkies.  You emboss a piece of cardstock, cut it apart and then color the individual pieces.  Once colored you put the pieces back together. This is my entry for Make it Monday this week.  I really like the bright colors.

Post for Paper Temptress

This is my post for Paper Temptress this week. I am finally getting a chance to play with one of the overlay sheets by Hambly Studio. The one that I used on this card is called Orange Mod Circles. The base of this card is Neenah Supersmooth Ivory. I decided to change my format a little. The Neenah piece is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. I then cute a piece of the Treasures Grass to 5 x 7 1/2 and folded that in half to make the part of the card that opens. I cut a flower out of the overlay to back the Treasures Butternut flower and then used a piece of it as accent on the Basis Brown also. The flower and sentiment is Treasures Butternut. I used a brown cat eye stamp pad to highlight the edge of the Ivory base.
One thing to note. I was on Pinterest the other day and they had a bracelet made of buttons. I loved the way they put the ends of the twine through the button and then formed a knot. I thought this would be perfect for attaching a button to a card. By the way the nice Natural Jute Twine also came from Paper Temptress.

MIM #104

Running a little late.  I really like to get things posted on Sunday or Monday early in the day.  Just got back from vacation in Minnesota.  Oh my the views were just fantastic.  Now back home and need to get some things posted on the blog.  This is my entry for  Make It Monday. I made this card as a sample for the shop to prove that you don't have to totally color an image and it can still look cute.

CFC65

The challenge this week at CASual Friday is to do a square card.  This is what I came up with.  The die in the background is from Memory Box.  The corner punch is from Martha Stewart .

Just us Girls #149

This idea was on the internet, but I don't remember where.  You cut a hole and then layer pieces of ribbon.  I added the extra piece with the sentiment on it. The challenge at Just us Girls was to use ribbon scraps.

Make it Monday #102

This is my entry for Make it Monday this week.  I used the technique called paper piecing for this card.  So I stamped the image on the base paper, then I stamped it on the designer paper and cut out the pumpkin and placed it over the image on the base paper. The rest of the image was colored with colored pencils

Make it Monday #101

Here is my card for the Make it Monday.  The main image was done on Watercolor paper.  I stamped the image with Versafine Onyz Black.  I then used waterbased marker and a water pen to do the coloring.

Totally Gorjuss #143

The challenge at Totally Gorjuss this week was to use the sketch that they had posted.  I know it is a little early for Christmas, but I needed a sample at the shop I work at once a month.  The Santa stamp is from Viva Los Vegasstamps.  I also used one of the new Spellbinder Card Creator dies.

CASual Friday #64

The challenge at CASual Friday this week was to have something that you see in the sky.  I thought this card would be perfect.  It is very simple with only two stamps.  The tree and moon stamp is made by Memory Box and the leaf stamp is made by Her. I used a little distress ink on the moon.

Party Time Tuesday #79

If you love layers then this project is for your. I just love the look. The Ivory part of the card is Neenah Supersmooth Ivory.

The sizes for these layers are 5 1/4 x 4, 4 1/4 x 3 and 3 1/4 x 2

You layer these with repositionable adhesive. That way they can be taken apart after stamping.
The maroon cardstock is Cranberry Brown Bag and the blue is Blueberry Brown Bag. I used a technique from Technique Junkies called curled corners on the small maroon piece because I wanted to show that the brown bag cardstock is the color of a brown paper bag on the backside.

The sizes for the colored layers are 5 1/2 x 4 1/4, 4 1/2 x 3 1/4 and 3 1/2 x 2 1/4.

Thought this would be perfect to enter in the anything goes challenge at Party Time Tuesday.

Well it is Monday again.  I like doing my posting on Sunday, but it just didn't happen.  This is another card I made for a sample at the shop I work at.  I just love this little hedgehog.  This is my entry for Make it Monday challenge.  I wanted to use this card for my entry at the Critter Sketch Challenge where the challenge was anything goes.

Make it Monday #99 and Totally Gorjuss #141

I got out the brayer again on this card.  I used a multicolor pad and glossy card stock.  I stamped the background with the cover-a-card background from impression obsession with a versamark pad and then put down the color with the brayer.  I stamped the main image with the same multicolor pad on cryogen white so it has that slight sparkle.   This is my entry for Make it Monday and Totally Gorjuss where the challenge was leaves.  I think a tree fits.

Make it Monday #98

Here is another card I made for a sample for a local stamp/gift shop.  I just love going to work and getting some time to play.  This is my entry for Make it Monday this week. I used a multicolor pad and brayered on the color.  I stamped the background image and then used a pearlized embossing powder to add the butterflies.  This is a simple card, but I loved the look.

Make it Monday #97

Someone on one of my Yahoo groups posted the link to make this card. I just thought is was so different. This is an anniversary card for my daughter and son-in-law. The colors at their wedding were pool and brown. I have used dark chocolate mica metallic and lagoon mica metallic. I stamped the main front image on cryogen and colored with image with colored pencils. I just love the rich color of the dark chocolate and the lagoon. Add sparkle to all the papers and I am in heaven. This was my Paper Temptress post for today.  Also thought this would be a great card for Make it Monday.

Make it Monday #96

Here is another card that I made for a demo at the Stamp/Gift shop that I work at.  I recently went to a scrapbook show and they were demoing usine a coffee bean stamp and making it into a ladybug.  I thought the idea was adorable. I thought I would share on Make it Monday this week

Sketch Saturday #214

This is a card I made for my son-in-law. The sketch came from Sketch Saturday.  I saw the idea for the embellishment below the deer on Splitcoast stamper.  It is just foam squares and I just some perfect pearls on one sticky side.  I thought the idea was pretty cute.

Totally Gorjuss #138

The challenge at Totally Gorjuss this wee was sweet and simple.  This is a wedding card for a friend of my husband.  I got this die and stamp from Memory Box a while back.  I just love orchid flowers. I stamped the image in green and colored the flowers with copic markers.  I don't use a lot of designer paper, but have a large stash and decided to use some of it.

DYSU #78 and Stamping Scrapping Challenge

The challenge at Do You Stack Up was blue skies and clouds. Recently someone showed me a really neat way to make clouds.  You cut scallops on a piece of paper with a decorative scissors and then moved it over the paper and used distress inks and an applicator to apply the color.  It really does make beautiful clouds.  The second challenge was at Stamping Scrapping.  Here you were to include one of their products and a bug of some sort.  The product I used was one of the new card creator dies.  I made the bug from an old Spellbinders set I have.

Scrap it with song

The inspiration at Scrap it With Song this week was the song Unwritten by Natash Bedingfield.  Here is my take.  I figure there is nothing more unwritten than a new baby.  This card is for the daughter of a friend of mine.  She has a lot of back problems and they did not really think they would ever have children.  Well she is pregnant and is having a little boy.  The card has a monkey on it because I bought a piece of fleece and crocheted around it and the fleece is green with brown monkeys on it.

MIM #95 and Party Time Tuesday #74

My brother-in-law turned 50 on Monday. This is the card I came up with. It is a double slider card from the 3D and Fun Folds CD from Technique Junkies. All the paper used is from Paper Temptress.  The base and layers of the card are Eclipse Black. The bright green layer is Green Textured. I just love the variation in color of the green textured. The image and inserts were done on Cryogen. The image was colored with Prisma colored pencils. I want to include this card  on Make It Monday and Party Time Tuesday where the challenge was anything goes.

Make it Monday #94

Here is my entry for Make it Monday this week.  This was a card I made for the stamp/gift shop that I work at a couple days a month.  The point was to show that even though a stamp is detailed you don't have to be scared of trying it.  You don't have to color everything.  She just happened to have a watering can in the window which worked out perfectly for the picture.

Just Us Girls Color Challenge

The colors for the challenge at Just Us Girls was red, white and blue.  The card I made is for a swap on one of my Yahoo groups.  The background paper was made with tissue paper, dimensional  paint and acrylic paint.  You put the design on the tissue paper with the dimensional paint, then you apply some of the acrylic paint and spread it across with an old credit card.  I was sort of amazed at how this worked.

CFC #56

The challenge at CAS-ual Friday this week was to do a project using polka dots.  I decided to use a technique in the new Techniques Junkies newsletter called Circle colored Collage.

Scrap it with Song

The theme at Scrap it with Song is "My Wish"by Rascall Flatts.  This is my father's day card for my father-in-law and the wish is that he would know we are thinking of him on Father's Day.

Totally Gorjuss #135

The theme at Totally Gorjuss this week is Sunshine.  When I think of Sunshine I think of flowers.  This is a new stamp that my sister gave me for my birthday.  I recently got the Tim Holtz markers and thought this would be a perfect project to try them on.  They are a dream to work with.

Make it Monday #93

I tried something new for this post. I am not a fantastic photographer, but love taking pictures. Recently my passion has been at several botanical gardens. One was in St Louis and the other Dallas. In one of my cardmaking magazines lately they printed on a linen cardstock so I had to try it. This picture was printed on Baronial Ivory Linen. Love the richness of the colors and the finish of the cardstock almost looks like canvas. The photograph is highlighted with Serpentine Mica/ Metallic. I also added a little texture with the wonderful dark green that is Greenbier Felt Grandee. The sentiment is stamped on a scrap of the Baronial Ivory Linen. The base card is Neenah Super Smooth Ivory. Would love to know what you think. This was my post for the Paper Temptress this week.  Posting this for the weekly entry at Make It Monday

Make it Monday #92

Well it is Monday again and time for another entry for Make it Monday. I was working at a local stamp and gift store this past weekend and here is one of the samples I made for the shop.  This card actually is a single layer and has a stand like a picture on the back.  The image was colored with colored pencils.
